Sanctuary Tour

Hours

We run four different tours throughout the day, following the schedule below:

10:30-11:30
12:00-13:00
14:00-15:00
15:30-16:30

To secure a visit, we recommend you book in advance as tours fill up quickly.

Payments can be made through Orange Money or by cash on-site. Card payments are accepted but depend on a stable internet connection and may occasionally be declined. We recommend bringing cash as a backup.

As we cannot accommodate late arrivals, our suggested time of arrival is 30 minutes prior to each tour.

There are no opportunities to visit the sanctuary outside of scheduled tour times.

Tours start promptly and last approximately 1 hour. Allow about 40 minutes to get to us from the western side of Freetown. Vehicles with 4-wheel drive are required to drive into the sanctuary. Otherwise, you can park or be dropped by taxi to the base of our hill, with about 100m uphill walk to the entrance of the sanctuary.

Cost

All proceeds go directly to the chimpanzees and conservation programs.

Children prices apply to 5-11 year-olds only.

On site, we only accept USD and Euro bills equal to or higher than 50 dollars/euros.

Tour Info

Sightings are not guaranteed, as the sanctuary’s priority is to provide a safe and natural haven for rescued chimpanzees after several stages of rehabilitation.

Tours take place on foot, following forest footpaths. Please wear comfortable clothing/footwear and remember to bring your rain gear in the rainy season. You are welcome to bring your camera as there are good opportunities to take the perfect picture.

We have a gift shop at the sanctuary where cold drinks, snacks, and a wide variety of local arts & crafts are available for purchase.

Group sizes are limited.

As we are located in the forest, network is not always available. If you cannot reach us by phone, send us a Whatsapp message and we will answer as soon as possible.
