Stacey arrived at Tacugama in December 2025 after being rescued from a village in the Moyamba District. She was just 3 months old. No teeth yet, completely dependent on formula milk, malnourished and scared of the world around her.

From day one, Stacey has been under 24/7 care from our veterinary team and caregivers. Feeding, warmth, comfort, sleep, repeat. Around the clock. Exactly what a baby chimp needs to survive and grow. Despite her rough start, Stacey shows a beautiful personality. She is gentle, calm and quietly observant. She finds comfort in human contact and settles easily when held close.
Her journey has only just begun.
