To come and see the chimpanzees at Tacugama you need to reserve a place on one of our guided tours.  There are two daily tours available: at 10:30am and 4:00pm, every day of the year.
All tours are strictly by appointment only and group sizes are limited. Please contact us in advance to confirm your reservation and arrive in good time to avoid disappointment.  You can call us on:

or send an email to:
The tours are timed to coincide with feeding to give you the best opportunity to observe the chimpanzees so they start promptly and
last approximately 90 minutes. Allow about 40 minutes to get to us from the western side of Freetown and plan to arrive around 15 minutes ahead of the tour time.
The tours take place on foot following forest footpaths, please wear comfortable clothing/footwear and remember to bring your rain gear in the rainy season. You are welcome to bring your camera as there are good opportunities to take the perfect picture.

We have a small gift shop at the sanctuary where cold drinks, snacks, postcards and a wide variety of souvenirs are available to buy.

The cost of the tour for Sierra Leonean nationals is Le 30,000 for adults and Le 10,000 for children.  For all others the cost is Le 110,000 (or US$15) for adults and Le 40,000 (or US$5) for children.
