There is always plenty to do around Tacugama whether you choose to stay overnight with us or not.

Curry Fusion night where the chef for the evening is the founder of Tacugama, Mr. Bala Amarasekaran. This is a unique opportunity to meet Bala in a relaxed environment and ask him any questions you may have about the sanctuary, how it all started, challenges or future plans. The curry fusion nights are held occasionally so please ask when you are visiting us or contact us when you are in Freetown. We cater for any dietary requirements.

Birds and Breakfast morning is a gentle exploration through the trails around Tacugama where you will be introduced to many of Sierra Leone's amazing birds and allow you to enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Western Area close to Regent Village. Our early morning start will ensure the best opportunity to see and hear a wide variety of birdlife. With a maximum group size of ten, you'll have plenty of opportunity to learn from your knowledgeable guide who can inform you in English and Krio. Tour is held on the last Saturday of every month and includes a hearty breakfast and your own bird guide.
Yoga weekend is a popular event. You will start the weekend with a tour of the sanctuary before having a few hours of yoga in our relaxing environment. We focus on heart-opening poses, including back-bending, introduction to simple mantras and most importantly, yoga-play in a weekend of rejuvenating, refreshing and reuniting. All your meals and overnight accommodation are included as part of the package.

Over the years we have held events locally, and abroad, to try and raise awareness in order to help maintain and improve the work that goes on at the sanctuary. We have been extremely privileged to show Her Royal Highness Princess Anne around our sanctuary. At our 10th, 15th and 20th Anniversary dinners events we were privileged to welcome distinguished guests from the government of Sierra Leone, members of the embassies in Freetown, as well as the excellencies the Presidents of Sierra Leone, Dr. Alhaji Ahamed Tejan Kabbah and Dr Ernest Bai Koroma. Never far away from the spotlight, Hollywood star Eva Mendes has also taken time out of her busy schedule to visit our chimpanzees.
Please ask near the time of your arrival about all our events. We always host events at various times of the year depending on demand and availability.
