We have four lodges at Tacugama, two traditional roundhouses and two at tree canopy level. The roundhouse lodges (Bruno and Julie) cost $90/night and each sleep two people – Bruno has a double bed and Julie two single beds. One of the canopy lodges (Augusta) sleeps two people with a double bed and costs $140/night. The second larger lodge (Christo) accommodates up to four people with two double beds in two separate rooms and costs $180/night; this lodge is very spacious and suitable for longer stays at Tacugama.
All prices are per lodge and include breakfast and a tour of the sanctuary (normally US$10/person). We provide bed linen, mosquito net and towels. There are gas and charcoal cooking facilities available and you will need to bring your own food for lunch/evening meals; we provide cooking equipment. We have water, soft drinks, beer and wine for sale.

  • Augusta, the  Eco-lodge in the tree tops BBQ area between Bruno and July, a perfect place to share an evening All prices are per lodge and include breakfast and a tour of the sanctuary (normally US$10/person).     Check in time is normally between 2.00pm and 6.00pm, check out time is 12.30pm. The sanctuary tours are at 10.30am and 4.00pm every day and last about 90 minutes. There are marked walking trails leading from Tacugama to local scenic areas that range in length from ~30 minutes to ~3 hours (to Charlotte Falls). These are a great way to see some of the local scenery, birdlife and villages.
    All proceeds from the lodges and tours go directly towards the sanctuary running costs. We also have a range of souvenirs and crafts available in our gift shop.
    As demand for the lodges is increasing we need to advise you that if for any reason you cancel your booking less than two days ahead of your stay, we will ask you to pay 50% of the lodge cost. Thanks for your understanding.
    Tacugama is located on the Regent / Bathurst mountain road from Freetown. It can be reached most easily using a 4 x 4 vehicle. It is also possible to charter a taxi and then walk the final 20 minutes from the main road along the picturesque forest track to the sanctuary gates.
