The first two lodges, "Bruno" and "Julie" are located in a clearing at the edge of the sanctuary, and can form an ideal 'pair' if there four of you wishing to have a quiet weekend, sharing sun-downers and a barbecue.
A short distance further on is "Augusta", our tree-house which provides a unique view into the forest canopy, with the chance to spot birds and the occasional troupe of spot-nosed monkeys.

There are several sight-seeing options in the area. Marked walking trails leading from the sanctuary to several local scenic areas. Taking from 30 minutes to two hours the trails lead visitors through local Krio villages and past beautiful waterfalls and dams.
A careful explorer will see and hear many birds and butterflies and perhaps cross the path of duikers and monkeys. Just 10 minutes away by car is West Africa’s oldest stone church, St Charles, at Regent village.
All the proceeds from visitors to the sanctuary go directly to supporting its work.
Tacugama is located on the Regent / Bathurst mountain road from Freetown. It can be reached most easily using a 4 x 4 vehicle. It is also possible to charter a taxi and then walk the final 20 minutes from the main road along the picturesque forest track to the sanctuary gates.
